TORO TORO

Toro Toro is a town and municipality of Bolivia located in the province of Charcas, in the department of Potosí. Access to it is from the department of Cochabamba by a road of 138 km, in approximately 4 to 5 hours. The height of the path varies between 1900 and 4000 meters above sea level.

Formerly a small hamlet Toro toro was that served as a rest for the caravans traveling from San Pedro de Buena Vista to Carasi and vice versa, being populated in the late 1700's with people who migrated from the upper valley in the department of Cochabamba, for the harsh drought spanning this region Valluna later, a town of Toro toro area comprising 10 communities was declared a National Park by Supreme Decree No. 22269 of 1989. In 1992 he rose to the rank of Law No. 1370.

It has an area of 16,570 hectares. Today is one of the most important National Parks of Bolivia, for their importance in paleontology and caving studies carried out on site.

Torotoro is a kind of "Pompeii" Andean. You can get to see several fossilized animals (turtles, trees).
